First Miller Days held beside the river Mura |

On Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th June 2008 in ambiance of the floating river mill on Mura in Žabnik beside Sveti Martin na Muri, first in a row Miller days were held, a manifestation of entertaining-educational character financed from the European Union fund. Miller days are part of the crossborder cooperation project INTERREG IIIa Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia “Miller path” that is carried out by Ecological organization Lipa (EOL) with its national and Slovenian partners.
Stvaraonica Krug, technical conductor of the manifestation, in cooperation with Ecological organization Lipa and Sveti Martin na Muri Tourist board have envisaged two-day program where visitors from entire Croatia, Hungary, Austria and Slovenia had a chance to get to know all partners and activities of the project Miller path, try out products of traditional gastronomy of this region, live into the times of our grandmothers and grandfathers through demonstrations of customs, observe skilful hands of the craftsmen: potter, basket weaver, maker of wooden objects, baker, lacemaker, painter of traditional paintings, ferryman, and they could try out some of the crafts. Also, all the visitors were ensured free tour of the floating river mill with possibility of expert guidance, as well as free ride with the ferry across the river Mura, and cultural-artistic and entertaining program.
In the end let us mention that Stvaraonica Krug has in cooperation with EOL and local community created a sort of continuation and pilot-project for the next manifestation, and that will after these Miller days be transferred to the Municipality and Tourist board of Sveti Martin na Muri in inheritance and to use.

4. Press Conference held ament the Presentation of the manifestation “Miller Days” |

On Friday 20th June 2008 in Čakovec, fourth in a row press conference was held to present the manifestation „Miller days“, as well as conduction activities of the crossborder cooperation project INTERREG IIIa Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia „Miller path“. As Peđa Nedeljkov, project manager stated, activities of the project are properly conducted, and most of them are predicted for June, July and August 2008.
He stated that infrastructural arrangement of spaces of Municipality Sveti Martin na Muri for purposes of operating of Tourist information centre is underway, as well as evaluation of offers for electrification of the floating river mill on Mura, development of action plan for arrangement of 24 meters of the Mura river bank beside Čestijanec, acquiring eight sets of benches and tables, creation of two info boards with the map of „Miller path – new crossborder tourist zone“, acquiring four traditional wooden boats.
Rubber boat with engine was acquired and registration is on the way, tender was opened for organization of workshops of old crafts, workshops for operating river boats and ferries are brought to the end, and preparation for the central manifestation of the project Miller days, is nearly finished. Two-day manifestation of international character „Miller days“ will be held on 28th and 29th June 2008 beside the floating river mill in Žabnik. From 13:00 on Saturday to 15:00 on Sunday demonstrations and workshops of old crafts – pottery, weaving baskets, making toys, woodworking, forming bread dough, and cultural-entertaining program will be held.
These two days will be days of open doors of the mill where all visitors of the mill will be able to visit mill without ticket charge. Visitors will also be able to take a ride with the ferry – the old Mura river boat, and can freely walk the Miller educative footway – path with interpreting boards set along to comment various phenomena of the Protected landscape of the river Mura. In the pleasant atmosphere of the river Mura landscape, on exhibiting stands in front of the floating mill, visitors can find out more about the project „Miller path“ as well as partners that are involved in the project.  |
